Winona Frye Lee, 93, of Liverpool, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at home. Born in Syracuse, she lived in Marcellus for 27 years until moving to Liverpool in 1977. Winona taught for a short time with the Peru Central School District. She left her teaching career to work with her husband, The Rev. M. Dennis Lee, in a number of ministries. A former member of St. John´s Episcopal Church in Marcellus, Winona was director of Christian education, taught Sunday school and was active with the Altar Guild and choir. She currently was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Liverpool. An avid reader, she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Winona was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, The Rev. M. Dennis Lee, in 2005. Surviving are her nieces, Margaret (Timothy) Medicus of Baltimore, MD, Jeanette (Timothy) Baker of Alexandria, VA and Patricia Frye of Orangeburg, SC; many great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Winona’s wishes were to donate her body to SUNY Health Science Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 25 in St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus.
