Winfred J. Lewis, 76, of the village of Camillus, died Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Francis House. Born in Truxton on Wednesday, December 16, 1931, he was the son of Lawrence Byron Lewis and Winifred Mary Smith Lewis. He lived in Syracuse most of his life and the village of Camillus for more than 20 years. Winfred was a 1951 graduate of Vocational High School. In 1997 he retired from Byrne Dairy after 38 years. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and member of the American Legion. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, the former Mary Carol Smith; daughters, Sheila Spink of Chittenango and Cheryl Biwer of Cicero; son, Kevin Lewis of Texas; stepsons, Vincent Clifford of Liverpool, William Clifford of Baldwinsville and Brian Clifford of Mexico; sisters, Marilyn Klase of Phoenix, Linda Stubbs of Lebanon, Ohio and Karyn Lewis of Kirkville; brother, Harold Lewis of Syracuse; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Winfred was predeceased by his sister, Doreen Dunn and brother, Lawrence Lewis. A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2008 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus with Rev. Paul Bailey and Rev. Philip Stubbs officiating. Friends may call Monday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
