William W. Williams

William W. Williams, 79, of Fairmount, died Friday, May 16, 2008 at Community-General Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Friday, May 18, 1928, he was the son of Weldon Boyd Williams and Marie Mitchell Williams. William lived in Fairmount for the past 36 years. He was employed for 36 years with the New York Telephone Co. He was a member of the New York Telephone Pioneers, Boy Scout leader and communicant of Holy Family Church. A skilled woodsman, Bill was known to his family as Uncle Bunyan. He spent many evenings around the campfire with his family. Family vacations included the Adirondacks and winter trips to Florida, as well as other travels throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Bill was an avid fan of Indy car racing. He enjoyed his motorcycle and watching boxing. Known for his kindness and generosity, his family camp was often home for many family reunions. He will be remembered forever in his sons who learned how to be good men by watching him live and now his grandsons who have watched and learned from him. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Angie Santaferra; sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Susan Williams of Syracuse and Thomas Williams of Cicero; and grandsons, Thomas, Patrick and John Williams, all of Syracuse. There will be no calling hours. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 in Holy Family Church with Rev. Cleophas Tuka and Deacon Nick Alvaro celebrating a funeral Mass.
