William A. Swift, 65, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on June 11, surrounded by his loving family, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bill was born in Syracuse and later resided in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and went on to work in the window and building renovation industries. He dedicated many years to his work and eventually retired from the Buffalo school system.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Lou Swift, of Syracuse, NY, as well as his brothers John of Sunnyvale, CA, and Terrence of Lometa, TX. He is survived by his brother Joseph of Fairfield Glade, TN, and his sisters Julianne (Crane) of Syracuse and Mary (Jim Wruck) of San Pablo, CA. He also leaves behind his beloved aunt, Ann Marie Boyle of Syracuse, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Bill will remember him for his kind, loving, quiet, and thoughtful nature. He had a natural ability to connect with young children and shared a special bond with his great nieces and nephew. Bill had a deep passion for antiques and art glass, particularly the works of Louis Comfort Tiffany. He found joy in listening to music by his favorite band, Queen, and indulging in old western movies. Above all, he had a weakness for countless peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Bill's presence in our lives will be greatly missed, but his memory will forever live on in our hearts. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful moments and lasting impact he had on all those fortunate enough to have known him.
May you rest in peace, Bill, knowing that your gentle spirit and loving nature will always be remembered.
