William R. Shick, 74, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday at Upstate University Hospital. Born and raised in Syracuse, Bill was a graduate of Central Tech High School and later earned his associate's degree from OCC. He dedicated over 35 years of service as a machine operator at New Process Gear, where he built lifelong friendships and a strong work ethic.
An avid golfer, Bill found great joy in family golf tournaments, where his competitive spirit and love for the game brought everyone together. His passion for muscle cars was undeniable, and he cherished every moment spent admiring and discussing classic American horsepower.
Above all, Bill treasured time with his family, and nothing brought him more happiness than the moments he shared with his beloved son, Jason. His love, laughter, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bill was predeceased by his father and stepmother, William Herbert and Leah; brothers, Gary and George; and mother, Mary Alice.
Surviving are his son, Jason of Liverpool; brother, Larry of Syracuse; sister, Nancy (Fred) Glahn Hall of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Bill’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Bill will be laid to rest in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
