William “Bill” R. Lischak, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Monday at Crouse Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Le Moyne College. Bill was an Army veteran of WWII and lifetime member of St. John The Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society for over 60 years. He was employed with Carrier Corp. for over 32 years before retiring in 1983. After retirement, he started the WRL Income Tax and Accounting practice. Bill enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing, vacationing in the Adirondacks and traveling with the “church group.” He loved music and playing the accordion and organ.
Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Marie (Taylor) Lischak; sisters; and brother.
Surviving are his wife, Martha H. Lischak; children, Andrea Di Pasquale of Fayetteville, Bill (Anita) Lischak of Santa Monica, CA, Frank (Jane) Lischak of Seneca Falls and Anne (Ed) Woodrow of Fayetteville; stepdaughters, Sue (Dan) Damanski of Chittenango, Jean Benton of Boston, MA and Jane (Bob) Jassmond of Whitinsville, MA; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Crouse 5-South for their compassionate care of Bill and his family. They were “simply the best.”
Relatives and friends may call Friday, December 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Panakhyda service will take place at 6:45 p.m.
Services will be Saturday, December 15 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home and 11 a.m. in St. John The Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 207 Tompkins St., Syracuse. Bill will be laid to rest in St. John The Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
