William "Bill" D. Wells, 91, of Camillus, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2016 with his daughter by his side. A true Irishman, Bill was born and raised in Tipperary Hill in 1925. A proud WWII veteran, he fought with the 512 Field Artillery Battalion and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal after being injured in the infamous Battle of the Bulge. He had a long career as a plumber with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 267.
Bill was involved in many organizations during his life. He loved to dance in the Top Hats Dance Club with his wife, Chloe. He enjoyed golf and was a longtime member of the Camillus Ski Association and the National Ski Patrol. Bill was a founding member of WAVES and an usher at St. Joseph's Church for many years.
Bill was predeceased by his loving wife, Chloe; and siblings, Joseph, Helen Quinn, Jack, Ray and Alice Guilfoyle.
Surviving are his daughter, Kimberly Prince of Syracuse; grandson, Anthony Prince of Syracuse; family, Dave and Suellen Callahan; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be Tuesday, December 20 at 10 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass to celebrate a life well lived will follow at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Bill will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
