Born in 1929 to Thomas and Gertrude, Bill grew up in the Syracuse School System followed by four years in the U.S. Air Force. During that time, he married Carol Kieffer and they had three children together. Upon discharge from the Air Force, Bill worked for NY Telephone for over 30 years. He also attended Onondaga Community College and graduated from Syracuse University.
Bill had many hobbies and interests, including restoring antiques, playing his harmonica, and humming a tune. For over 30 years, he and Carolyn would venture to Florida every winter. They celebrated 72 years of marriage this year. Bill was a man of deep faith and served in many roles in Elmwood Church.
Bill was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Tom.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; sons, Steven (Laura) Jacobsen of Syracuse and Brian (Elizabeth) Jacobsen of Conway, SC; daughter, Becky (Gary) Enders of Corning; sister, Doris Jacobsen Hopper of Nedrow; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday, December 1 at noon in Robinson Elmwood United Church, 126 S. Terry Rd., Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
