William J. Cianciola Sr.

March 18, 1926 — July 23, 2013

William J. Cianciola Sr., 87, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at University Hospital at Community General. Born in Utica on March 18, 1926, he was the son of Philip H. and Clara Vaeth Cianciola. On April 12, 1947, Bill married Margaret Mary Lloyd in St. Francis Church in Utica. He and his family moved to Camillus in October 1956. Bill retired from the Campbell Soup Company in 1988 after 37 years of service as an account manager. He received several merit awards and was inducted into Campbell’s Hall of Fame. He served in the Army Air Corps and belonged to the American Legion. A member of the Royal Order of the Jesters, he was also an honorary member of Ancient Order of Hibernians and was inducted in November 1968. Bill was a member of the Konosioni Lodge 950 F&AM and Tigris Shriners where he played in the Shriners field band. A communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, he was a member of the Sunday choir and funeral choir. A founding member of the Flying Column Irish Band, he also sang with the Tom Dooley Choraliers and Alpine Choraliers. He enjoyed golf, tennis and bowling. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret, in 2010; and brother, Charles. Surviving are his sons, William J. (Joyce) Cianciola Jr. of Baldwinsville and David P. (Kerry) Cianciola of Clifton Park; daughter, Margaret C. (Gary) Siebert of Lewiston, ME; brother, Philip J. Cianciola of DeLand, FL; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Friday, July 26 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Camillus. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in church. Bill will be laid to rest at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church Human Development Fund, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031 or to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
