William “Bill” D. Kortright, 67, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 at home after a long illness. Born in Syracuse on Thursday, February 22, 1945, he was the son of Cornelius and Mary (Navin) Kortright. Bill was a graduate of St. Lucy’s. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed by Carrier Corp. retiring after 35 years. He enjoyed golf and fishing. Bill was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Francis and Patrick Kortright. Surviving are his loving wife, the former Karen Sheehan; daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and John Ifkovits of New Paltz and Katie and Steve Smorol of Syracuse; brother and sister-in-law, John and Linda Kortright of Solvay; four incredible grandchildren, Jack and Aidan Ifkovits and Ashlyn and Shauna Smorol; mother-in-law, Janet Sheehan of Syracuse; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Monday, September 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Tuesday, September 4 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 216 North Lowell, Ave., Syracuse, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Bill will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
