William “Bill” A. Winks, 61, of Camillus, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was born on Sunday, November 20, 1949 and was a graduate of West Genesee High School. Bill retired from the Town of Camillus Highway Dept. in 2007 after 30 years. He was a former member of Amboy Belle Isle United Church and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Camillus. He enjoyed welding, fabrication work and spending time with his family. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Frederick Harold Winks and Jeanette Gilson Winks; and his brother, Frederick Winks Jr. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, the former Susan Elaine Weber; daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Daniel Bishop of Bloomington, Indiana; son, John Winks of Syracuse; sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara Winks of Belleview, Florida and Marcia and Barry Mace of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Timothy Winks of Wilson, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Monday, May 9 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Bill will be laid to rest privately in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels ECHO Inc., 4600 W.
