William A. Thorp Sr., 95, of Camillus, passed away Friday, June 5, 2020. Born in Morristown, NJ, he moved to Camillus in 1971. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. William was a 1948 graduate of Wesleyan University and worked for GMAC for 41 years before retiring in 1989. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Bill volunteered at Upstate University Hospital Community Campus and was a tutor with Literacy Volunteers of Greater Syracuse. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Tuscarora and Westhill Golf Clubs.
William was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Irene, in 2010; and brother, Albert Thorp.
Surviving are his sons, William Jr. of Cape Cod, MA, Timothy (Dana) of Camillus and Christopher of Macedon; daughter-in-law, Catherine Thorp; sister-in-law, Suzanne Thorp; grandchildren, Meghan Thorp (John) Killoy, Daniel (Cristina) Thorp and Spencer (Shira) Thorp; step-grandchildren, Angela and Sam Ryder; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be private for family. Bill will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
