Wayne "PapaG" Edward Giangiobbe Sr., 85, of Camillus, passed away Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born January 29, 1937, to Carmen and Evelyn, he was a resident of the Syracuse area before moving to Camillus where he raised his children. Wayne graduated from Vocational High School in 1955 and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, having served aboard the USS Saratoga as a Storekeeper Third Class. He worked at Byrne Dairy for ten years and then U.P.S. as a tractor-trailer driver for 25 years before retiring in 1997. Wayne was a member of the Teamsters Local 317 and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Carmen and Evelyn; brothers, Charles and Ronald; and sister, Judith Donnelly.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, the former Beverly LaDuke; daughters, Linda (Jeff) Davie of Camillus, Laurie (William) Palmer of Baldwinsville, Lisa (John) Brienza of Marcellus, and LuAnn (John Gardynski) Giangiobbe of Camillus; son, Wayne Jr. (Andrea) of Marcellus; brothers, James and Terrance, both of North Syracuse; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
