Warren S. Kenyon, 78, of Weedsport, was called home Tuesday, November 13, 2012, to be with his Lord and Savior. Born in Syracuse on Sunday, April 15, 1934, he was a member of the Boy Scouts and Golden Gloves Boxing Club. Warren met the love of his life, Carole Jean Furze, at McKinley School and married her in 1950. They raised four children. Warren worked as a lather in the Syracuse area for 33 years before he became an employee of the NYS Thruway Authority, retiring in 1996 after 18 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to tell stories of the days when he built many of the “landmark” buildings in the city of Syracuse, and enjoyed pointing them out whenever possible. A faithful member of Grace Chapel for 33 years, Warren helped with the construction and building of the church, as well as the men’s prayer breakfasts, senior citizens dinners, and served many years as chief usher. He was a strong believer in his Christian faith and loved his Lord. Warren was predeceased by his parents, Florence Porter Kenyon and Albert Kenyon; brothers, A. Spencer Kenyon (MIA of WWII), Leonard and Donald Kenyon; and sister, Gwendolyn Kenyon. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Carole; children, Wayne S. (Pam) Kenyon, Kirk D. (Renee) Kenyon, Bonnie L. (John Major) Kenyon and Stacey L. (Matt Ilacqua) Kenyon; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17 at 2 p.m. in Grace Chapel. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Warren’s memory to the Alzheimer's Assn. of CNY, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204 or to Grace Chapel, 1674 Cherry Valley Turnpike, Skaneateles, NY 13152.
