Walter Szul, 72, of Parish, NY passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Munich, Germany, he moved to the US in 1948. Walter was a graduate of Blodgett Vocational High School and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed as a warehouse supervisor with Carrier Corp. for 42 years. A skilled craftsman, Walter was known for building birdhouses and showcasing them at craft shows around Upstate New York. He loved camping, especially in the Adirondacks.
Walter was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce; second wife, Denise; and parents, Nicholas and Stephanie.
Surviving are his high school sweetheart, Darlene Gridley; children, Katrina (Brian) Szul of Ovid and Timothy (Brianna) Szul of Fulton; stepchildren, Jon Briggs, Jeneen Reynolds and Michele Briggs; brothers, Roman Szul of Camillus and Myron (Irene) Szul of Auburn; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, October 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Tuesday, October 30 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Per Walter’s wishes, he will be cremated.
