W. Donald White, 81, of San Antonio, TX, and formerly of Camillus, NY, passed away Saturday at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. Born and raised in Coatesville, PA, he moved to Syracuse in 1970. He was a graduate of Malvern Prep High School and the University of Scranton where he met his future wife, Helen, who attended Marywood University. Don retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 2001 after 27 years and was an adjunct instructor of accounting at Onondaga Community College for 25 years. He was a board member for ECHO Meals on Wheels, volunteer and auxiliary treasurer for Community General Hospital and communicant of St. Joseph's Church. In 2018, Don and Helen moved to San Antonio, becoming members of The Towers, a retirement community near their son. Don and Helen immediately became active members of the community. He loved watching his grandsons perform in the Alamo Heights band. An avid skier, he enjoyed skiing locally, out west and in Europe well into his 70s and was treasurer for the Camillus Ski Assn. for 18 years.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, W.S. Fisher and Regina White.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Helen Quinn; son, William S. (Shelley) White of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Molly W. (Tom) Scanlon of South Riding, VA; brothers, Richard (Myra) White of Matthews, NC and Michael White of Coatesville, PA; grandsons, Ryan Scanlon, Daniel, Jack and Joseph White; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, March 12 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at church.
Donald will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, Skaneateles.
