Vito Lentini, 81, of Camillus, New York, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday, April 6, 1930, he was the son of Liborio Lentini and Marianne Manno Lentini. He lived in Brooklyn until moving to Syracuse in 1969 with his family. Vito worked over 30 years as a court reporter with the last 22 years at the Onondaga County Supreme Court House. He retired in 1989 with his wife, Jean, and followed their dream by moving to Las Vegas where he lived for 22 years. In 2011, he returned to Syracuse. Vito was a Korean War veteran and member of the Las Vegas Chapter of the Grandsons of Italy, the NYS Court Reporters' Assn. and the YMCA. He was an avid SU sports fan and jazz enthusiast. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Vito was predeceased by his loving wife, Jean, in 1995; and sister, Phyllis Riccobono. Surviving are his daughter, Susan (James Pratt) Lentini of LaFayette; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Michael and Kimberly Lentini of Fairmount; brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Lillian and Nick and Ann, all of Long Island; grandchildren, Lindsay, Edward and Samantha; great-granddaughter, Alexis; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, May 21 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Vito will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Vito’s memory to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
