Virginia Richter MacDowell, 91, of Marcellus, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 13, at Hope Hospice, Ft. Myers, FL. Born in Saugerties, NY on July 17, 1923, she was the daughter of Arthur and Julia Richter. Virginia graduated from Moran Business School and was a stenographer for the State of New York once her children were in high school. Her family always came first. She enjoyed reading, needlework, cards, baking cookies and camping with her grandchildren and friends, Doris and Milt, and enjoyed winters in Ft. Myers, FL for over 30 years. Virginia lived in Albany, NY for more than 60 years and was a member of the McKownville United Methodist Church. Virginia was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Richter. In 1947, Virginia married the love of her life, Robert Ashbrook MacDowell, and they enjoyed 67 years together. Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughter, Bonnie (Richard) Aupperle of Marcellus; son, Robert Ashbrook (Deborah) MacDowell II of Williamsburg, VA; Seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Van Buren of Rhinebeck and Joyce Richter of Port Ewen. Visitation will take place Friday, July 17, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 303 Kasson Rd., Camillus.
