Violet L. Wagner, 95, formerly of Camillus, passed away February 6, 2020. Vi enjoyed pets, gardening classic movies, family and friends. She was the youngest of five children, growing up in the beauty of the Catskill Mountains. Vi graduated from Sidney High School in 1942 and went on to serve in the Army Cadet Nurse Corps during WWII. She graduated from Crouse Irving Memorial School of Nursing in 1947 and later earned a bachelor’s degree in public health from Syracuse University. Violet was employed as a registered nurse in hospitals, the West Genesee School District and as an occupational health nurse at Syroco. She was a Harvard University Nurses’ Health Study participant for over 40 years. Violet was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church
In 1950, Violet married Edward Wagner, who predeceased her in 2013.
Surviving are her son, Robert Wagner of Glen Burnie, MD, where she lived with her husband after 2005. Also surviving are her daughter, Kathryn (Bruce) Patterson; grandchildren, Laura (Joshua) Lambertsen, Lisa (Alfred) Yun and Mark (Jennifer) Patterson; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the spring.
