Vincent J. Lamparella Sr., 88, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Iroquois Nursing Home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse and Camillus area, he was born on Thursday, September 8, 1921 and was the son of Stephano Lamparella and Concetta Pontillo Lamparella. He attended Vocational High School and received a diploma from West Genesee High School. Vincent was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1983 after 38 years with Allied Chemical. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He was a member of VFW Post #8664 and Adelphi Club. An avid bowler and golfer, Vincent was once scouted by the NY Yankees as a possible catcher. Vincent was predeceased by his son, Dr. Vincent J. Lamparella Jr. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, the former Lucy Hojnacki; daughters and son-in-law, Theresa and James Pierce of Cicero and Patricia Lamparella (Pamela Bates) of San Diego, California; daughter-in-law, Sharon Lamparella of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, Heather, Kara, David, Amy, Gina, Andrew, Alan, Aubrae, Alexandra, Shannon and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Julia, Elizabeth, Sasha and Nicholas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be at noon Friday, March 5 at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 12:30 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, March 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Vincent will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
