Vasil Yakobchuk, 87, of Camillus, New York passed away Tuesday at home. Born in Volyn Oblast, Ukraine, he moved to the Syracuse area in December of 1990. Vasil was employed at Pass & Seymour in Solvay. He loved God and was an active member of the First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church serving as head usher for many years. He enjoyed gardening, photography and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Vasil was an amazing husband, father and grandfather.
Vasil was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Eugenia and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his daughters, Lesya (Vladimir) Pototsky and Galina (Rostislav) Sidorchuk, both of Camillus; brother, Eugene of Ohio; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Thursday, August 26 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church, 3875 Warners Rd., Syracuse.
First service will follow at 7 p.m. Second service will be Friday, August 27 at 10 a.m. Vasil will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
