Torunn Henny Woldbeck, 74, passed away in her home on Saturday, April 18, 2020, with her family at her side.
Torunn was born in Onsoy, Norway on May 11, 1945. She was an only child and married her husband, Bjorn on April 30, 1966. Torunn and Bjorn ventured to Brooklyn in 1968. She was educated as a secretary and first worked in Manhattan. From there, Torunn and her husband moved to Huntington where they raised their family. They enjoyed the water, their children’s activities and their home on Cider Mill Lane, which she took great pride in. Torunn worked as a special education teaching assistant for 15 years in the Huntington Schools. After their children were grown, they moved to Camillus where they enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow and where Torunn continued her work with children as an infant day care provider for nine years. Torunn continued with a strong sense of duty and pride to her home, her children and her garden. These domains have always remained her biggest accomplishments and largest sources of pride. After retirement, Torunn and Bjorn were avid patrons of the arts, attending three to five musical and theatrical events a week. They frequented the Red House, CNY Playhouse and Rarely Done Productions, amongst many others.
Torunn is survived by her husband of almost 54 years, Bjorn; children, Tanya (Joe) Pellettiere and Lars (Donna) Woldbeck; and five grandchildren that she could not be more proud of, Kai, Layla, Lillianna, Emmalyn and Everett.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, July 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus. We will be following the NYS guidelines regarding capacity and social distancing. Face coverings are required.
