Thomas J. Purcell, 83, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday at home. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he moved to Syracuse in 1971. Tom received his bachelor’s degree from LaSalle University and was employed by McCormick & Company, Inc. and Coca-Cola Company, before becoming a sales manager at McLane Northeast. During his retirement, he worked with Sam Rao Florist. A communicant of Holy Family Church, Tom was an avid sports fan of the NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and SU sports. Most of all, he loved his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and concerts.
Tom was predeceased by his wife, Marie in 2002; parents, Patrick and Catherine; and brother, James Purcell.
Surviving are his sons, Patrick, Thomas J. Jr., and Michael (Kristen), all of Camillus; grandson, Daniel Purcell; granddaughter, Elizabeth Purcell; brothers, Joseph and Patrick (Terry), both of Philadelphia, PA; and three nieces.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be private.
Tom will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
