Thomas D. Marris, 72, of Camillus, passed away peacefully on Thursday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Oneida, Tom was raised in Erieville and later settled in the Syracuse area, where he built a life of dedication to his family and career.
A graduate of Cazenovia High School, Tom pursued higher education at Morrisville College and earned a bachelor’s degree from Empire State College before attending Syracuse University Law School. He worked for Austin Edgar Florist before his passion for law led him to a distinguished career spanning over 40 years. He was a dedicated attorney, first as a partner at Marris and Bartholomae, before establishing his own practice, the Law Firm of Thomas Marris, PLLC in Syracuse. He was a respected member of the Onondaga County Bar Association and was known for his commitment to justice and serving his clients with integrity.
Outside of his professional life, Tom was an avid sports fan, cheering faithfully for the Baltimore Orioles and the Oakland Raiders. He had a deep love for baseball and, in his earlier years, was an enthusiastic golfer. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his daughters, and had a special love for his dogs, who were constant companions throughout his life.
Tom leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness that will be forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tom was predeceased by his wife, Linda, in 2015; and parents, Floyd and Hester Marris.
Surviving are his daughters, Misty (Brent Stoothoff) Marris of New York, NY, and Whitney (Alex Varisco) Marris of Alexandria, VA; brothers, Richard (Karin) of Erieville and Kevin (Debbie) of New Woodstock; sisters, Ellen Brooks of Oriskany Falls, Margaret Marris of Liverpool, and Maureen (Bruce) Albee of Morrisville; former brother-in-law and law partner, William Bartholomae of Camillus; canine companion, Barney; grand-dog, Jennifer; and many nieces and nephews.
