Thomas Koes, 67, of Marcellus, passed away peacefully on Thursday at Upstate University Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of Westhill High School. Having obtained a bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego and a master's degree from Chapman University, Tom embarked on a fruitful career, working diligently at Crouse Hinds for over two decades before contributing his expertise to Goodrich for 14 years until his well-deserved retirement in 2020. His dedication and expertise were exemplary, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.
A communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, Tom was an avid camper and reader who found joy in watching classic movies and attending his sons' sporting events. He cherished the outdoors, being on the water, traveling, and perfecting his golf game. He was a classic rock music enthusiast and was known for his captivating “tales of the foothills".
Throughout his life, Tom deeply valued time spent with his family, especially relishing moments with his grandchildren.
Tom was predeceased by his daughter, Kimberly; parents, Virginia and Edward; and uncle, Paul Henry.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Nancy; sons, Paul (Sondra) of Rochester, Tim (Kelsey) of Clayton, NC, and Bryan (Alex Dawson) of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Henry, Quinn, and Emersyn; siblings, Kelly (Mike) Sena of Garner, NC, James (Mary Lou) of Syracuse, and David (Debbie) of Halfmoon; and several nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Tom’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will follow at 12:45 p.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church, 1 W. Main St., Marcellus.
Tom will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
