Thomas Joseph Fero, 61, of Camillus, died January 20, 2005. Born in Syracuse on Thursday, September 23, 1943, he was the son of John Eckman Fero and Josephine Anne Bednarcik. He lived in Camillus since 1968. Tom served as Camillus First Ward Town Councilman for 5 years. He served in the U.S. Army Airborne Division from 1962 to 1965. Tom also served the New York State Police for 27 years, retiring as a Zone Sergeant in 1993. He was vice president of the Camillus West Homeowners Association. He was a member of the VFW Knifetown Post #1540, Camillus Rod & Gun Club and the Association of Former New York State Troopers. Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed jet skiing, boating and playing pool at his summer home on Sandy Pond. Most important to him was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, the former Yolanda Mastrogiovanni; mother, Josephine Fero of Syracuse; daughters, Renee (Rudy) Simmons of New Paltz and Lisa (John) Bloom of Camillus; brothers, John (Barb) Fero of Syracuse and James (Jeanne) Fero of Chittenango; sister, Marguerite (Richard) Montross of Chittenango; grandsons, Thomas, Christopher and Matthew; granddaughter, Mikayla and several nieces and nephews. Tom is predeceased by his son, Thomas, Jr., in 1990. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2005 in St. Joseph's Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Sunday, January 23, 2005 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St. Camillus. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
