Thomas A. Fantauzzi Jr., 83, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born to the late Tommaso and Mary Josephine Fantauzzi, he was raised in Syracuse, moved to Camillus in 1973 and wintered in Hudson, FL for many years. He was an Army veteran. Thomas worked as a clinical instructor for the Radiology Department of Upstate University Hospital for 34 years, retiring in 1994. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and member of the Camillus Elks Lodge. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Thomas was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn, in 2010; sisters, Anne Nies and Bonnie Catania; and brother, George.
Surviving are his daughters, Karen (Stephanie Duva) Fantauzzi of Charlton, MA and Cynthia (Donald Southerland) Roberts of Coto De Caza, CA; sister, Jean Tupper of Syracuse; brothers, John of Florida and Joseph and Francis, both of Syracuse; grandchildren, Devin, Gianna-Maria, Katheryn and Liam; sisters-in-law, Marie Simons of South Carolina and Joanne (Robert) Blake of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Keith and Lynn Tupper, Tom Gulgert, Mike Brown and Jack Robinson for their loving care, compassion and friendship given to Thomas.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, August 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, August 21 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 5600 West Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
