Thomas A. DeJohn, 83, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. Born in Syracuse on Tuesday, September 25, 1928, he was the son of Michael and Philomena DeJohn. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, Tom was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a mason for more than 40 years. A member of the Vendetti Club, he was the last surviving brother of the “Boxing DeJohn Boys” and a Golden Glove boxer. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Tom was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Nagy DeJohn, on September 16, 2002. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Robert Bowe of Canastota; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Grace DeJohn of Liverpool, and Gary and Darlene DeJohn of Cicero; daughter and son-in-law, Kristine and Kenneth Williams of Marcellus; grandchildren, Jarod, Jodie, Tyler and Desiree DeJohn and Wyatt, Emerson and Walker Williams. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, November 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 30 at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Ferner officiating. Tom will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
