Susan Mahoney Loos, 64, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Francis House. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was born on Monday, April 7, 1947. She lived in Camillus for 40 years. A graduate of the Convent School in Syracuse, Susan also received a bachelor's degree from LeMoyne College and a master's degree from SUNY at Cortland. Madame Loos taught French in the Westhill School District for 33 years as well as Spanish for 10 years. She was a member of the American Association of Teachers of French, New York State Association of Foreign Language Teachers, and New York State United Teachers. She was also a member of the Société d'Honneur Francais, Pi Delta Phi Chapitre Theta Rho, and the Auxiliary of Francis House. She served on the Board of Regents at LeMoyne College. An active communicant of St. Joseph's Church On-the-Hill, she served as altar server, Eucharistic minister and lector. Susan was predeceased by her parents, William W. Mahoney and Dorothy Watson Mahoney. Susan is survived by her husband of 42 years, Edward R. Loos. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, May 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church On-the-Hill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 1 in the church. Susan will be laid to rest 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2 in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Susan’s memory to St. Joseph's Food Pantry, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
