Susan M. Gibbons, 73, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was born on Tuesday, February 7, 1939. She graduated from West Genesee High School in 1957, SUNY Cortland in 1961 and received her master's degree from Penn State University. Susan retired after 39 years as a physical education teacher with Le Moyne College. An honorary member of the Le Moyne College Hall of Fame, she was very active with intramural sports and kept score for Le Moyne College baseball team for 25 years. She was a member of the Gold Wave Booster Club and director of waterfront activities at Lourdes Camp. She loved spending time with her family. Susan was predeceased by her parents, John F. Gibbons and Helen Frances Ryan Gibbons; and brother, John. Surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Sharon Gibbons of Marcellus; sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Robert Knapp of Fairmount; sister-in-law, Betty Gibbons of Camillus; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, April 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 5 at 12:30 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Church. Susan will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
