Stuart E. Glose, 75, of West Melbourne, Florida, and formerly of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Melbourne. Born in Buffalo on Tuesday, July 7, 1936, he was the son of Edwin Glose and Madalyn Himmelsbach Glose. A graduate of Kensington High School in Buffalo, he lived in Buffalo until moving to Syracuse in 1959. Stuart was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. for 39 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church and former member of the Fairmount Fire Department and Pastime Athletic Club. He was also a former member of the Men’s Club and served on the board of directors of Hollywood Estates in West Melbourne, Florida. An avid golfer, he was also a Yankees fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. Stuart was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, the former Joan Betz; and great-grandson, Zachary Dattler. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Jim Armstrong of Palm Bay, Florida; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Dawn Glose of Orlando, Florida, Jeffery and Marianne Glose, and Matthew and Laura Glose, all of Syracuse; sister, Nancy Goulding of Buffalo; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and dear friend, Barbara Hulbert of Syracuse. Relatives and friends may call Friday, January 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28 at the funeral home with Rev. Janet Fechner-Pelletier officiating. Stuart will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
