Steven R. Carpenter, 68, of Camillus, passed away Sunday at home, surrounded by his loving family. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of Weedsport High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne College. Steven was employed with CertainTeed Building Products for over 29 years before retiring in 2021. A member of the Camillus Sportsmen’s Club, he enjoyed shooting clay pigeons and laughing with friends. Steve loved boating on the St. Lawrence River and hiking with his wife, Julie. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with the loves of his life: his wife and their two daughters.
Steven was predeceased by his parents, Warren and Betty Carpenter.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Julie; daughters, Cara Carpenter-Davis of Camillus and Jenna Carpenter of Syracuse; brothers, Mark and Gregg (Jolene Ward), both of Auburn; sisters, Shari Carpenter of Newfield and Kim (Jo) Fey of Weedsport; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and aunts.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 20 at 1 p.m. at the Camillus Elks Lodge, 6117 Newport Rd., Camillus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY & Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088, or to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 5402 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
