Stephen O. Nami, 58, of Syracuse, passed peacefully Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Francis House, surrounded by his loving family after a long courageous battle with brain cancer. Born and raised in Syracuse, he lived in the Taunton area and retired from Verizon in 2007. Stephen was a devout Catholic who lived his faith as a model and example for all to follow and was a rock for all to lean on. Family meant everything to Stephen. He cherished his role as a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother. He will truly be missed by his loving wife, Lucy; children, Jason (fiancée, Mary Kortright) Nami and Marisa (Arthur Joseph) Hameline; parents, Ottavio and Dorothy Nami; brothers, Michael Nami, Nicholas (Donna) Nami, and Thomas (Daryl Bell) Nami; sisters-in-law, Mary (James) Bird and Antonette Viscomi; brother-in-law, Joseph (Carolanne) Viscomi; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, February 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Charles~St. Ann's Parish, 501 South Orchard Rd., Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 5 at 10 a.m. in the church. Stephen will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208. May the souls of the faithfully departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
