Stephen Moskal, 96, a lifetime resident of Syracuse, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Loretto. Born on Wednesday, January 8, 1913, he was the son of Wasyl Moskal and Anna Smolnycki Moskal. He was employed by Simmons Mattress Co. for more than 20 years, retiring in 1975. Stephen was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church and member of Holy Name Society. His wife of 61 years, the former Grace Elizabeth Russell, died November 28, 2006. Surviving are his daughters and son-in-law, Jeanne Moskal of Syracuse and Susan and Charles Zawacki of Camillus; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Irene Moskal of Jordan, James and Loretta Moskal of Siloam Springs, Arkansas and David and Barbara Moskal of Syracuse; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Milchen of East Syracuse and Eva Nicotra of Vero Beach, Florida; and brother, Thomas Moskal of Liverpool. Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. with Panakhyda services at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
