Stephen L. Lonergan, 57, of Fairmount, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Community General Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was born on Tuesday, February 24, 1953 and was the son of Edward Lonergan and Martha Irene Frey Lonergan. He graduated from LaFayette High School and University of Buffalo School of Management. Steve was employed with the Town of Sullivan Code Enforcement Office. A communicant of Holy Family Church, he was a former Eucharistic minister and lector. He enjoyed volunteering at the church and was active with the Life in the Spirit prayer groups and was a group leader with the PIO group. Steve was inducted into the 3rd Order of the Secular Franciscans. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Steve was predeceased by his brothers, Mark and Patrick. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, the former Mary Ann Lacina; daughters, Emilie Lonergan and Stephanie Lonergan, both of Syracuse; sisters and brothers-in-law, Valerie Fish of Albany, Sheila Narayanan of Morristown, New Jersey, Deborah and Bruce DiCocco of Canastota, Sara and Joseph Parrott of Westvale, Amy and William McGrath of Fairmount and Colleen and William McConnell of Onondaga Hill; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Theresa of Liverpool and Matthew and Jeanette of Elkins, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, August 1 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 2 at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Steve will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
