Shirley A. (Carolin) Liberatore, 82, of Camillus, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011 at DeMay Living Center in Newark. Born in Syracuse on Tuesday, January 29, 1929, she was the daughter of John P. Carolin and Agnes Meere Carolin. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she attended Blessed Sacrament Parochial School and Eastwood High School. She served in the U.S. Naval Reserves in 1952, was employed by Hoffman Co. of Syracuse until 1954, and was a communicant of Holy Family Church. She enjoyed traveling and being a stay-at-home mother. Shirley was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Ellen Short, in 1987; brothers, John “Jack” and James “Jim” Carolin; and sister, Joan King. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Querino; son, Michael of Los Angeles, California; granddaughter, Kristen (Jon) Koop of Florence, Kentucky; great-granddaughter, Ella Marie Koop of Florence, Kentucky; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Dunham of Bradenton, Florida, Eleanor Hockenbrock of Pittsford and Patricia and Jim Krick of Cicero; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Carol Carolin of Liverpool; sister-in-law, Shirley Carolin of Sonoma, California; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Monday, July 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 19 in Holy Family Church. Shirley will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
