Sharon Messina, 78, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020. She was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area and an angel on Earth. Sharon owned The Lakeland Diner, where she enjoyed serving people for 30 years. Sharon also enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting, crocheting, boating on the river and traveling to Wells Beach in Maine. Above all, she loved spending time with family and friends. She was the rock and strength of her family.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Emil and Leona Muench; along with several sisters and brothers.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Ronald; daughter, Dorie (Rick Ivanchak) Messina; son, John (Edie) Messina; grandchildren, Michaela, Alison and Logan; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Noah and Harlow; sisters, Linda (Michael) Dacey and Margaret (Lee) Evanoff; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, September 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
There will be no services. Burial will be private.
