Sebastian "Ben" Mandolfo, 85, of Fairmount, passed away Monday surrounded by his loving family. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Ben was employed for 34 years with Carrier Corp., retiring in 1987 as a program analyst manager. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church. An avid reader, Ben enjoyed bowling, the stock market and horse racing but above all, loved spending time with his family.
Ben was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Josephine, in 2016; son-in-law, Gary Bowering; granddaughter, Grace Mandolfo, step-granddaughter, Annette Bowering; and sisters, Josephine Schibilia, Mary Mosienik, and Florence Peters.
Surviving are his daughters, Catherine (Thomas) Erwin of Camillus and Mary Ann Bowering of Baldwinsville; son, Michael (Christina) of Buffalo; brother, Joseph (Peggy) Mandolfo of Syracuse; grandchildren, Valerie Kovalczik (Paul Voutsinas Jr.) of Camillus and Timothy (Amanda) Erwin of Warners; step-grandchildren, Angie (Dave) Brown of Phoenix and Adam Bowering (Summer Martin) of Cicero; great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Isaac Erwin; along with several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, October 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, October 5 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Ben will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery.
