Sandra "Sandie" (Sagarella) Claps

Sandra “Sandy” (Sagarella) Claps, 72, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Lawrence and Erma Sagarella on November 18, 1945 in Solvay. Sandra moved to Camillus and was a 1963 graduate of West Genesee High School, where she met Julius, her husband of 55 years. Sandy was a homemaker raising three children and was the bookkeeper and spirit behind the family owned businesses. She later worked part-time at Dey Brothers Department Store in Fairmount Fair. Sandy was loving, caring and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gambling and taking trips to the casino. Above all, she was proud of her Italian heritage and loved to cook big meals while spending time with her family.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Erma (Cavadine) Sagarella; and brother, John Sagarella.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Julius Nicholas Claps of Camillus; sons, Julio (Joy Olschewske) Claps of Auburn and Lawrence (Samantha) Claps of Camillus; daughter, Joelle (Terry Braren) Claps of Liverpool; grandchildren, Joshua Claps, Samantha (Renan) Claps-Corral and Paige Claps; and several nieces and nephews.

Per Sandra’s request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be private.

The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Humane Association of Central New York, 4915½ W. Taft Rd., Liverpool, NY 13088.
