Samuel "Sam" Paul Griffo

Samuel “Sam” Paul Griffo, 39, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Camillus, he lived in Boston before moving back to Camillus in 2016. A graduate of West Genesee High School, Sam earned his bachelor's degree from Ithaca College. He won the 1998 Lacrosse National Championship with West Genesee High School and the 2002 Division Lacrosse Championship with Ithaca College. Sam enjoyed doing many "progeez" and spending time with family and friends, always putting them first.

Surviving are his wife, Heather; parents, Richard and Sherry of Camillus; siblings, Scott (Pam) of Baldwinsville, Alan (Margaret) of Camillus, Cara Griffo of Camillus, Alicia (Jon) Abdo of Camillus and Richard "Punkiey" (Mandi) of Camillus; nephews, Michael Lynk, Nathan and Kyle Abdo; nieces, Morgan Lynk, Jenna and Catherine Griffo; and beloved dog, Halo.

Relatives and friends may call Monday, September 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 3 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Sam will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
