Samuel D. Wolcott Jr., 85, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at home. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, he moved to Syracuse in 1965. A graduate of Kingston High School, Samuel was an Air Force veteran and earned his bachelor's degree from Penn State University. He was head cheerleader, all-university parliamentarian, sophomore class president, member of the Delta-Upsilon Fraternity Alumni and known as "Big Man on Campus" in college. Samuel was employed with General Motors for over 35 years, retiring as Chevrolet district manager in Syracuse. He was a councilman for the Camillus 2nd Ward, past president of the Solvay-Geddes-Camillus Kiwanis Club and member of the American Legion, Camillus Elks and Camillus Ski Hill. He was a Shriner, Freemason in Wilkes-Barre and jester in Syracuse.
Samuel was predeceased by his wife, Carol, in 1997; and grandson, Jonathan "Tyler" Olcott, in 2013.
Surviving are his daughters, Deborah (Jerry) Neuman of Camillus, Carol Lynn (Timothy) Olcott of Florida and Susan (James) Bahnick of Pennsylvania; son, Samuel Wolcott III of Michigan; grandchildren, Jerry (Kara) Neuman, Jennifer (Matthew) Andino, Chase Olcott, Matthew, Andrew James and Jessica Bahnick, Victoria and Rebecca Wolcott and Samuel Wolcott IV; great-grandson, Gavin Andino; and great-granddaughter, Madelyn Neuman.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, July 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Samuel will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
