Salvatore J. Rotella Jr., 74, of Howlett Hill, passed away on Thursday, at University Hospital. Born in Rome, GA, he was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. For over five decades, he was the proud owner of Advanced Automotive in Syracuse, where his dedication to craftsmanship and professionalism earned him widespread respect. His expertise extended beyond mere repair work; Salvatore was renowned as a custom vehicle and motorcycle builder. He served as the past president of the Empire State Towing & Recovery Association, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. Salvatore was a staunch supporter of local first responders, recognizing their invaluable service to the community and was an avid automobilia enthusiast and hobbyist.
Salvatore was predeceased by his wife, Roseanne, in 2009; sister, Beverly, in 2015; and parents.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan Jensen of Pensacola, FL; sons, John Rotella of Syracuse and William "Bill" (Jodi) Supernault Jr. of Memphis, NY; brother, Theodore "Jack" (Lois) Rotella of Goodlettsville, TN; sister, Nettie Page of Williamsburg, VA; grandchildren, Anthony, Sara, Aleyna, and Julia; great-grandchildren, Lauralye, and Julian; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation to honor Salvatore’s memory will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home.
Salvatore will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
In honoring Salvatore’s memory, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Howlett Hill Fire Department, 3384 Howlett Hill Rd., Syracuse, NY 13215.
