Salvatore R. Sam Sal Sansone, of Westvale, died Sunday, March 19, 2006. Sal had a long history of an exemplary career in the food service industry. He graduated from Central Technical High School where he was president of the Senate Fraternity. He also graduated with honors from the Culinary Institute of America, located at that time in New Haven, Connecticut. Sal received a scholarship from the Syracuse Branch of Food Service Executives. Upon returning to Syracuse, he joined the branch and was the local president for several years. He was on the committee for the renovations of St. Charles Borromeo Church where he taught religious education for 12 years and served as president of the St. Charles School Board. He was also president of the West Hill Booster Club. Sal was one of the youngest executive chefs at the Hotel Syracuse. He was currently employed by Mid-State Food Brokers. He operated a food stand at the New York State Fair. Sansone's Fairbreak was one of the favorite things Sal did. His family and friends were his employees at the Fairbreak where many friendships and one marriage occurred. It was clearly a labor of love. Surviving are his loving wife of 33 years, the former Pattie Hartnett; his beloved daughter, Erin Pallett, of Westvale; son-in-law, Gary Pallett, of Westvale; and his pride and joy, his granddaughter, Maggie Pallett, of Westvale. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Costello of Camillus; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peg and Mike Corning of Westvale, Marcia and Fran Lowther of Port Byron and his beloved brother, Hank Bud Sansone and his wife, Audrey, of Rochester; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Maureen and Tim Griesel of Westvale and several nieces and nephews, all of whom were special to Uncle Sam. Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception where Rev. Joseph Clemente will celebrate a funeral Mass. Friends may call Wednesday, March 22, 2006 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
