April 21, 1925 — September 4, 2010

Sadie Morong, 85, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital. Born in East Machias Port, Massachusetts on Tuesday, April 21, 1925, she was the daughter of Jones and Ruth Holmes. She was a graduate of East Machias Port High School. She lived most of her life in the Syracuse area. Sadie retired after more than 20 years with Sears Roebuck & Co. An avid runner, she was a member of several local track clubs and made the Who’s Who for Women Runners Over 50. She loved her cats and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed plants and gardening. Sadie Sadie was predeceased by her husband, George L. Morong, in 1978. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Pauline “Polly” and John “Byron” Fountain of Camillus; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Donna Morong of La Canada, California and Gilbert and Susan Morong of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, September 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 9 at the funeral home. Sadie will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Humane Association of CNY, Inc., 4915½ W. Taft Rd., Liverpool, NY 13088.
