Ryan P. Wood, 40, of Camillus, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday at Upstate University Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a distinguished alumnus of West Genesee High School and earned his bachelor's degree from the prestigious Rochester Institute of Technology. For nine years, Ryan brought his exceptional skills to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, where he worked as a graphic designer, leaving a lasting impact on the institution and its visitors. He was known for his creativity and passion for the arts throughout his life. Ryan dedicated his talents to various organizations, including serving as the former co-chair of Adapt CNY’s Public Arts Task Force in Syracuse. As a former board member and graphic designer for Civic Morning Musicals, he shared his artistic gifts with the community he loved.
Passionate about art and music, Ryan found solace and joy in the beauty of creativity. An ardent sports fan, he reveled in the excitement of soccer and basketball games, always cheering on his favorite teams with unmatched enthusiasm. Ryan’s love for animals shone brightly, reflecting his warm and compassionate spirit. However, his greatest joy was found in spending time with his family, creating lasting memories, and sharing his warmth and kindness with all those around him.
Ryan was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Ruth Krausser; and paternal grandparents, Paul and Jacqueline Wood.
Surviving are his parents, Gregory and Rita Wood of Camillus; sister, Adrianne (Dylan) Canterbury of Cobleskill; grandfather, Frank Krausser of State College, PA; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
