Ruth S. Gillet

Ruth S. Gillet, 94, formerly of Camillus, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at The Centers at St. Camillus. Born in Homer on Saturday, March 31, 1917, she was the daughter of Horace Greeley Sanborn and Laura Martin Sanborn. She was a graduate of Cortland Normal School and lived in Fairmount for 62 years. Ruth was previously employed by Bob’s True Value Hardware Store and West Genesee School District at Fairmount. A charter member of West Genesee Hills Baptist Church, she was also a former secretary for 17 years, pianist and organist. Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Frank E. Gillet, on March 22, 2006. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Joe Brin of Baldwinsville; son and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Kate Gillet of Medford, New Jersey; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, October 1 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Jewell officiating. Ruth will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer. Contributions may be made to West Genesee Hills Baptist Church, 4947 West Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
