Ruth T. Quale, 96, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, January 21 at Loretto Health and Rehabilitation. A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, she was born on October 23, 1928, and spent her life surrounded by the family and community she loved.
Born just before the Great Depression, Ruth learned the value of hard work from an early age. A proud graduate of Assumption School, she carried that strong work ethic throughout her life, taking great pride in everything she did.
An avid quilter and gardener, Ruth found joy in bringing beauty to the world through her creativity. She also had a passion for travel, embracing each new experience with curiosity and delight.
Ruth’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever cherish the love and kindness she shared. Despite the many challenges in her life, she will be remembered for always conducting herself with grace, humility, and dignity.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, John; two granddaughters; and parents, August and Naomi Halbritter.
Surviving are her daughter, Theresa (Charles) Mitchell of Marcellus; son, Dr. John M. (Dr. Susana) Quale of Scotch Plains, NJ; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister in the Syracuse area; a brother in Utah; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be private.
Ruth will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
