Ross C. Sanford, 71, of Memphis, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Carthage, he lived in the Syracuse area for most of his life and was an Army veteran.
Ross retired in 2005 after 30 years with Onondaga County. He had a passion for cars and loved racing and was a member of the Syracuse Hot Rod Association. An avid hunter, he also enjoyed camping and was a member of the Elbridge Rod & Gun Club. Above all, Ross loved spending time with his family.
Ross was predeceased by his mother, Marguerite St. Andrew; brothers, Bob and Jimmy; and sisters, Patty, Marguerite and Maggie.
Surviving are his son, Nicholas C. Sanford of Memphis; daughters, Shannon Sanford of Fairmount and Melissa (Hugh) Richberg of Rochester; sister, Nancy Misercola and brother, Lewis (JoAnn) St. Andrew, both of Syracuse; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, September 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 22 at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Ross will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
