Roselina Marie (Ribas) Sacco, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Crouse Hospital. Roselina graduated from Vocational High School in 1947 as an honor student who excelled in business. She was employed with Falcone & Yackel & Rupp Insurance Agencies, Fay’s Drug Store, G.C. Murphy and Rochester Shoe Store. Roselina was a communicant of Holy Family Church for 65 years and a member of its Funeral Luncheon Program for over 30 years.
Roselina was a loyal and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her love for children and their care was central to who she was. She enjoyed trips to the casino and playing slots and Bingo with family and friends. Roselina loved playing cards and was quite the strategist! Many enjoyed her variety of Christmas cookies and lemon meringue pie.
Roselina was predeceased by her parents, Emanuel and Elvira (Cosentino) Ribas; sisters, Barbara Moakley and Elizabeth Berube; brothers, Anthony and Philip Ribas; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Sacco) Popps, Jodie Sacco and Darlene Sacco; brothers-in-law, Vincent Sacco, Carmen Sacco, Richard Sacco, Philip Corcoran, William Moakley and Stanley Kowalewski; and lifelong friend, Geraldine Celi.
Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Frank J. Sacco Jr.; daughters, Valerie (Walter) Socha of Syracuse, Tinamarie Sacco of Orlando, FL and Mary (Steven Hyde) Sacco of Camillus; granddaughters, Tammy (Scott) Reyes of Camillus, Angela (Aaron) Pluff of Parish and Abby (Kevin) Dempsey of Syracuse; grandson, Jonathan Socha of Colorado; great-grandchildren who gave her much joy, Nicholas Trippany, Anna and Adam Pluff, Timothy Dempsey and one to arrive in April, Connor Dempsey; sister, Gloria Corcoran; sisters-in-law, Florence Ribas, Lois Sacco, Carolyn Kowalewski, Rosemarie Sacco, Teresa Sacco, Shirley Sacco and Cheryl Ribas; brothers-in-law, Anthony Sacco, Robert Sacco, Ronald Sacco and John Popps; aunt, Anne (Bill) Perry; lifelong friend, Gloria Ferrara; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. George and Nurse Deb of Crouse Hospital ICU who cared for Roselina during her last hours.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, March 5 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Face coverings are required.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 6 at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Roselina will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery Serenity Mausoleum, Warners.
