Rolland “Ron” Schlicht, 90, of Camillus, passed away Friday at home. Born in Syracuse, he grew up in the Valley and resided in Onondaga Hill for many years. Ron served his country as a distinguished veteran of the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and bowling. He especially enjoyed attending Syracuse University football games.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, Ferdinand and Genevieve; and siblings, James, David, and Muria.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Gemma; son, Ron (Lorie); daughters, Victoria (Charles) Strohbach, Valerie (Karl) Field, and Lori Schlicht; granddaughters, Angelina, Kristin, Annaliesa, Alexandra and Allison; step-grandchildren, Chuck and Heidi; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Brayden, and Kinley; sister, Bonnie Schlicht; sister-in-law, Nita Lindsey; and several nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Ron’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will follow.
Ron will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
